3D TWR Simulator

The system depicts up to a 360 degree 3D representation of an Out-the-Window view of the airfield environment. When viewing the 3D environment, all aircraft, vehicle models and weather features behave in a realistic manner on the ground and in the air including realistic 3D surround sounds.

The system is capable of supporting up to four (4) independent simulations as follows:

  • The 360 degree tower dome can run as two 180 degree towers
  • The PTT (Part Task Trainer) module can run a third independent simulation
  • The SPT (Scenario Preparation Tool) station can run as a fourth independent simulation

The 360 dome is composed of 6 student working positions behaving as 6 virtual clusters of identical PC equipment (PC, 21 inch monitors, keyboard, mouse) emulating desired operational ATS systems and paper flight progress strip printer. The PTT module contains one student working position identical to those at 360 dome.

The system supports traffic complexity of up to 200 aircraft and 40 ground vehicle movements per hour, accompanied by the necessary applications. Different functions and operational systems can be used on each working position (e.g. approach surveillance system, ground radar system, flight data processing, light control and monitoring, weather information, light gun, direction finder).

  • The Tower system supports the following training positions:
  • Tower Controller (Executive / Planning)
  • Ground Controller
  • Clearance Delivery
  • Ramp Controller
  • Coordinator

The simulator allows to run either a full-scale fully integrated tower and radar scenario, or independent tower or radar scenarios. It is also possible to run multiple simultaneous instances of the same scenario or multiple different scenarios.

The system is configurable and flexible and may be used to assist in control tower sighting surveys, runway and taxiways placements, developing arrival, departure and radar procedures, post incident evaluations and debriefings and runway incursion prevention, assessment and evaluation.

Electronic Flight Progress Strips (EFPS) can be displayed at the position(s) determined responsible for the aircraft, by the FDPS. The system displays an EFPS using the same trigger mechanism as those used for a printed FPS.

All CANI simulators are equipped with highly configurable VCS (Voice Communication System) with touch screens allowing both radio communication and telephone calls and functions.
